Once you have clicked on a specific area, I clicked on Sahara Du Nord, another, more detailed map of that area appears. Each fort in the sector is listed by name. Here, I clicked on FORT L’ALLEMAND.
Fort Lallemand est à 56 km au Sud d’Hassi Messaoud, sur la piste qui allait à Fort Saint et à quelques kilométres de la route goudronnée actuelle.
Ce fort est traditionnel avec deux redoutes en diagonale et un puits en son centre fournissant peu d’eau à 24m de profondeur.
Il s’appelle aujourd’hui Bordj El Hirane, du nom du puits qui a permis l’implantation du fort ici.
Il commande le Gassi Touil, vestige supposé de l’Oued Igharghar issu du Hoggar, qui permet une circulation aisée entre Ouargla et le Sahara Central.
Ce fort fut construit en 1894.
